The global market for social gaming is expected to reach $17.4bn by 2019, according to a report by Transparency Market Research.

This figure represents a significant increase on the $5.4bn reported in 2012 and is driven by the continuous growth in sales of smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

Many game developers are aiming to tap into the lucrative social media market, which currently has an average of 200 million active users playing games online - a figure set to double by 2019.

It is also expected that during 2014, one third of internet users are likely to use social gaming.

Asia Pacific is currently the largest regional market for social gaming.
