The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has reported a 15.2 per cent increase in gross gaming revenues from online gaming in March but an overall fall in total GGR from land-based and online operations, year on year.

Gross gaming revenue for online gaming rose from $10.3m in February to $11.9m in March. As of March 31, there were 291,625 i-gaming accounts created in New Jersey, up 17.5 per cent in the month.

The combined GGR from casino hotels and i-gaming operations was $233.4m in March 2013, down 2.2 per cent from March 2013 ($238.5m). The March 2013 total included the Atlantic Club casino which closed in January 2014.

For the 11 casino hotels open in March 2014 that were operating in March 2013, thus excluding the Atlantic, GGR was down 1.9 per cent year on year.

Casinos incurred $17.7m in total gaming taxes (land-based and online) in March, up 2.3 per cent year-on-year. For Q1 2014, casinos incurred $48.3m in total gaming taxes, up 0.9 per cent on Q1 2013.
