Commenting on his decision, Mueller said: “After 14 years of building and developing the company, my decision to leave paysafecard has not been an easy one. Currently, we enable one billion people worldwide to pay online without a credit card or bank account.

“The company is now entering a new chapter in its history, at a time where continued growth in online payments and new technologies are having a profound impact on what businesses and consumers require when it comes to online transactions.”

Siegfried Heimgaertner, CEO of Skrill Group and chairman of the paysafecard group supervisory board added: ”The continuity on the board of paysafecard ensures that the company’s success story will continue, based on ongoing innovation and a deep understanding of the needs of both consumers and merchants.

“I am confident that paysafecard's position as Europe’s most popular prepaid solution for transacting online will be expertly supported by a great product and a strong and experienced team.”

In other news, Skrill has announced that its customers can now use paysafecard to top up their Skrill Digital Wallets.

Users can now instantly top up the credit in their Skrill Digital Wallet using “my paysafecard” accounts. Customers can load up to £250 and following verification, make top ups of up to £850 and up to £2,500 within a 30-day period.

Once funds are uploaded through paysafecard, customers can use them with any merchant that accepts Skrill payments, or to transfer money to other Skrill Digital Wallet holders.

Stuart Gregory, vice president of Digital Wallet at Skrill, said: “In a world where digital transactions continue to grow, the Skrill and paysafecard integration provides a level playing field that enables those without bank accounts to still benefit from being able to make payments via the internet.”
