Playtech has acquired a three per cent stake in Ladbrokes from the bookmaker's biggest shareholder, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Schroders cut its holding from 12 per cent to below 10 per cent after offloading a £37.1m stake on Wednesday at 170p a share. Shares have since jumped to 185p, on rumours that an unnamed buyer could be preparing a bid for the bookmaker.

Earlier reports suggested that Teddy Sagi, the Playtech founder, was behind the purchase of the shares. However it has emerged that the sale had been made via Playtech rather than Sagi personally.
