Betradar has launched Virtual Basketball, a sports betting product developed using motion-capture technology.

BetradarVirtualBasketball

To create Virtual Basketball two professional basketball teams were tracked by over a 100 cameras and sensors on a full basketball court, hosted in a movie studio in the UK. Prior to filming, 500,000 real basketball events were analysed including player position, shot types and success rates, which provided the foundation of all play moves and shots.

Based on a league format, 16 teams are competing for the title with eight matches running in parallel every four and a half minutes, resulting in over 2,400 fixtures to bet on each day. All major betting markets are available with odds distribution based on Betradar’s feed as found for real basketball. The product has been developed to be as close as possible to betting on real events with included live scores, tables and statistics.

Neale Deeley, managing director at Betradar, said: “Virtual Basketball has been developed for punters to place bets intuitively. It’s the first virtual basketball product out in the market and brings in assets we have in our other virtual sports that have proven to be highly attractive to bettors. We are absolutely convinced that it will take the revenues of our clients to new heights.”
