As the smartphone market continues to evolve, Bit8 continues to work hard to deliver an improved mobile platform for operators. Here, the company tells us how.

SINCE 2012, the year when mobile gambling finally took off, i-gaming operators have adapted their strategies to focus on mobile, with some pegging their whole business on it.

This can be attributed to the almost total penetration of smartphone technology, thanks in no small part to the domination of the Android platform, and also an increase in confidence and trust in the channel for transactional purposes. All this makes avoiding the small screen a fatal business error no operator can afford to make.

At Bit8 we took the mobile channel to a whole new level. Operator clients have, from the get-go, a highly scalable, modular and responsive HTML5 mobile presence. This product, as with the overall platform, puts our clients at a competitive advantage.

We are very bullish on HTML5. As is customary for us, we hacked our way around the script and added our layers and elements to make sure that operators – of any size - have no compromise on scalability, performance and the user experience. This proved to be essential in preserving the user engagement required to monetise the channel effectively. The native vs. HTML 5 debate has been going on for many years. Typically, operators have had to go with both, servicing players through app stores and the browser. Native gives operators the capability to use each and every feature of the phone, superior performance and the use of the App Store as a marketing/discovery channel.

HTML 5, on the other hand, levels out all the fragmentation associated with Android, iOS, Windows and other lesser-known platforms, with ease. Therefore, most operators have had to combine the two so as to offer users the best of both approaches, which can cause confusion for end customers and is expensive for operators to maintain.
