AMF Bowling has opened the doors to Australia's largest bowling centre - a AU$6m leisure park with 38 glow-in-the dark lanes.

Macquarie Leisure Trust Group paid $67m for AMF’s 40 bowling centres in 2004 and is now opening new-look centres around Sydney in a bid to spark a new interest in the game.

The North Strathfield centre opened last month with a fully licensed bar, lounge area and big-screen projectors, with target markets ranging from children’s parties to office team-building classes.

AMF regional manager Andrew Sharry said the centre provided a “fresh entertainment alternative” for Sydney.

AMF’s Hornsby Bowl reopened earlier this year after a $1.5m refurbishment. The company has also refurbished its Blacktown, Macarthur and Castle Hill bowling centres.
