Waterland already has considerable stakes in the street gaming market, including in JvH in the Netherlands. Napoleon Games is a 65-year-old operating company with a strong arcade division and a growing online business.

Napoleon also sponsors Belgian football champions AA Gent and the cycling team Sunweb-Napoleon Games. The Waterland investment in Napoleon will enable the Belgian company to increase its capital strength.

Napoleon CEO Tom de Clercq said: “We have in the past few years seen strong growth in our online gambling business, a sector in which we have to compete with major international players. Collaborating with a relevant, capital-rich partner like Waterland will consolidate our position.”

Napoleon bought the casino in Knokke two years ago from Groupe Partouche of France. In addition it runs 22 arcades, mostly in Flanders.
