Both Clarion and EAG were keeping their cards close to their chest today after a week of industry speculation about the London shows in early 2013.

With building work due to begin on the grounds of Earls Court next year, Clarion has opted to move for dates at ExCel for early February 2013, positioning itself just a week after the European Amusement and Gaming Expo closes at the same venue.

Visitors to the two shows hope that the events would once again cohabit, to avoid the long journey across London, but as things stand that seems unlikely.

In a statement today, Martin Burlin, who is EAG show director on behalf of owners trade association BACTA, said: "BACTA’s launch of EAG as a dedicated event, organised by the industry for the industry, has proved to be a great success. Much of the success of EAG has been down to our willingness to talk and listen to our exhibitors on a regular basis.

"This we will continue so to do. We are committed to building on that success and any change will only happen after we have spoken to all our stakeholders and if it is guaranteed to deliver a positive result for our members, our exhibitors and our visitors.  At this moment in time we are seeking  to clarify the position of our product profile."

EAG met with the ExCel authorities on Tuesday of this week, a meeting at which it is understood that the show’s product profile was discussed. This is one of the difficult areas for EAG and Clarion’s ICE Totally Gaming, for there is a cross-over of products.

Martin Burlin confirmed to InterGame today that at no time has anyone asked his organisation to move its dates, nor had Clarion made any attempt to speak with him.

Meanwhile there was no further comment from Clarion today.
