It’s not all that long ago that the jukebox was the primary means of listening to music for most people. The format is alive and well but has had to adapt due to the advent of the smartphone.

The key to some of the most successful products available today has been creating something that a customer can look at and know immediately how to operate. Intuition, therefore, is key. It was the aim of the marketers of the iPhone that when a user turned it on they would know that touching an app made it open. Uber, the taxi company, had a similar revelation. The app opens and the user sees numerous little cars driving around streets and where they are in relation to the person holding the phone. The user need only contact the nearest one for a lift.
