Intercard, a provider of cash management solutions for the amusement and casino industries, recently installed iReader II readers, two self-serve tellers and a redemption inventory management system at Putters, an FEC in Eugene, in the US state of Oregon.

In addition to a 40-game arcade area, Putters features the area’s only indoor, 18-hole, mini golf course, as well as laser tag, an indoor playground, billiards and a gourmet pizza parlour.

“One of the reasons I moved from coins and tickets to a card system was that I was witnessing how the old system added stress to my employees’ jobs,” said Steve Gilbert, president of Putters. “Constantly dealing with quarter jams, collections, security issues and the general mess of dust and litter from the tickets created a stressful environment, particularly during busy times. Our guests picked up on the employees’ angst, which in turn negatively affected their experience. Since we installed the Intercard system, I’ve had employees volunteer to me that they’re enjoying their work much more.

“The reason I chose Intercard over other systems was the endorsements I received from people in the industry whom I trust,” added Gilbert. “Lasertron, our laser tag vendor, uses Intercard. And Mike McWilliams at Specialty Coin, our games supplier, referred us to Intercard. I’m glad I followed their advice. We’re only a few weeks into using the Intercard system, and it’s made an immediate positive impact on our operations and our guests’ experiences. We’re getting out of the way of the customer so they can have fun at Putters.”

Intercard’s Amber Collier said: “Steve and his team were a pleasure to work with. They have a great, family-run operation. While at the location, we were able to help Steve identify specific areas and issues where he could either save money or generate more revenue, which wouldn’t have been possible without a card system.”
