One of the UK’s best-known arcade operators, David Studt, has died at the age of 79 at his home in Wales.

David died on February 27. He lived at Ceredigion and the funeral service will be held at Llanllwchaearn Church, Rectory Square, New Quay, SA45 9PB at noon on March 16.

David was a long-time operator and keen supporter of trade association BACTA and its Welsh social events. He was often seen at trade shows in company with Frank and Philip Booth, also well-known operators from Tenby in Pembrokeshire, Wales. David was married to their sister, Diane.

David and Diane's son, Russell, worked in the family business for many years. Long-time friend Michael Green of UDC said: “David and I were friends dating back to the 1960s. He was always first to buy a drink and was respected by everyone who knew him.”

InterGame’s David Snook, who also knew David Studt from those early days, said: “I always met David in company with Frank and Philip Booth – the families were very close and travelled together everywhere.

"They were all well respected and a credit to the seaside industry. I often saw them at BACTA events, such as the South Wales BACTA Ball, or at trade shows and nearly always for a drink in Cardiff before a rugby international – they were great fans. He will be missed.”
