DXB Entertainments, operator of the new theme parks in Dubai, expects its locations to collectively become one of the five most visited theme park destinations in the world.

6.7 million expected at new parks

Raed Kajoor Al Nuaimi, CEO of DXB, related the roller-coaster ride of his company’s projects over the past three years, up to their opening, to a press conference where he projected 6.7 million visitors in the first year.

The company’s parks are the movie-themed Motiongate, Legoland and Bollywood and work has begun on building a fourth park, Six Flags, which will have 27 rides and attractions including the world’s largest roller coaster.

“It has been a bumpy ride, the past three years,” said Al Nuaimi. “The drop in oil prices and slowdown of the economy was a problem, but we had signed three-quarters of the contracts already, so that helped us.”

DXB was formerly Dubai Parks and Resorts but changed its name as the new parks came close to completion.
