UK set for first VR site

The UK’s first dedicated virtual reality site might open in Tyneside this year.

The operator, Virtual Arcade, is currently a pop-up business doing parties and wedding receptions and is now looking for a permanent location, most likely in Gateshead.

The company’s website is running a survey gauging people’s attitude towards VR, including what is a fair price and how long a session should be.

The site says: “This is more than gaming or watching a film. This is a total immersion experience, which will teleport you to places you can only imagine and provides as much entertainment for spectators as it does for those in the experience itself.

“Virtual experiences can be tailored to your event from a wide range of options. From adventure to exploration, high adrenaline immersion to jaw dropping amazement.”

The website says this will happen within 2016.
