British operator Town and County Leisure has today (Tuesday, May 10) been acquired by the Gauselmann Group, Germany’s largest gaming machine company, which already has substantial holdings in the UK machine industry.

Town and County Leisure

The Birmingham-based Town and County Leisure is run by managing director Paul Langham with his brother John, nephew Nick and David Duncan as directors. The company has around 1,800 machines in operation, has been established for over 30 years and has been a prominent member of the Independent Operators Association, a UK co-operative of machine operators.

The directors and staff of Town and County Leisure will remain with the businesses.

The company is a supplier to both national, regional and free trade pub retailers and has a strong business in outsourcing its service arm to adult gaming centre, bingo and casino operators, including another Gauselmann group company, Praesepe.

Town and County was acquired by a new Gauselmann company, Merkur Engineering, which will be used as the nucleus to build on the considerable Town and County outsourcing business in service and logistics. This new business will continue under the current management and its board will be chaired by Nick Harding, the CEO of Gauselmann’s AGC and bingo business, Praesepe.

The core operating business will continue to be operated as Town and County Leisure until its integration into the Gauselmann national operating business Regal Gaming and Leisure.
