FEC development company and distributor Funco took a large display to the DEAL expo in Dubai this week and announced that it had opened a theming division.

Funco opens theming division

Dilip Rokade, general manager, reported that the company had undertaken a number of turnkey developments of new FECs and had augmented its design team with other specialists and opened workshops so that every facet of theming could be undertaken in-house.

“We now have the ability to control every facet of a themed location because we have our work fit-out manufacturing facilities. Everything from carpentry and metalwork to joinery, plumbing and electrical installations are now done by our own teams of specialists,” he said.

He pointed to the large section of stand that depicted a themed area of pipes and wheels. “We can use PVC to produce a realistic copper pipe. We can use MDF to make a tap wheel and ‘rust’ it with our own processes. This gives us the flexibility to build exactly what we - or the operator - wants precisely to the specification laid down. These are important considerations in theming of a new location.”

It also meant that the company could control its own quality and costing and could exactly replicate whatever the design team had requested.

“We have in the past year undertaken a project in Sharjah and another in Qatar is about to be signed - hopefully during the show.”

The location in Sharjah, the neighbouring emirate to Dubai, was for Game District, an all-games arcade at the iMall shopping centre along the lines of a PCB circuit board.
