A US$1bn Warner Brothers theme park will be opened on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, it has been announced, opening in 2018. The venture is a partnership between the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and Miral.
The park will feature a range of famous Warner Bros characters, including Bugs Bunny, and will create around 1,000 jobs.
Thirty per cent of the project has been completed, said Mohammad Abdullah Al Za’abi, CEO of Miral. “All agreements have been signed, construction has begun and rides have been ordered.”
The park will sit alongside a first-ever Warner Bros branded hotel. Last year the tourist area of Yas Island saw 25 million visitors; a number that is expected to grow by another five million this year.
