The first new Dutch arcade to be permitted 24-hour opening and an alcohol licence has opened at Teal, near Nijmegen.

It is the second to be opened by ex-JvH executive Frank Kastelijn's Hotel Gaming company. The Gran Casino, as it has been named, follows the opening of Kastelijn's first location, the Tryout casino at Nuland, a 42-machine location which opened two years ago. Gran Casino, however, has 250 machines, on a cashless basis, connected by a REAC card system.

There are now 12 locations across the Netherlands using the REAC card system, said REAC's Maxim Hollink. "Ninety-five per cent of the country's arcades already have our management system in, so it is natural for them to (under new legislation permitting card or ticket systems) opt for our card system. We believe that it is the way that the whole country will go."
