Former Bally and Electrocoin personality Dave Adams has died after a long illness, aged 72.

Dave began in the coin machine business in 1960 when he joined Phonographic Equipment in London as an engineer.

He moved on to various other departments within Phonographic and eventually became head of its service department and specialised in Bally machines. He worked closely with Eric Jacobs on the development of new features for games made by Bally for the UK pub market.

He was at Phonographic until the late 1970s, leaving to take over as managing director of Bally Continental (UK), working closely with well-known characters like Ralph Mandell, Sue Wayne and Alex Wilms in the early 1980s.

He joined Bally at its offices in Wembley, London, where he was one of the principal salesmen as well as taking care of much of the company administration. Dave subsequently joined John Stergides at Electrocoin when Bally closed the London office. He was with Electrocoin for a number of years, eventually retiring in about 2005.

Dave was a sportsman; a golf fanatic who also played football at a high level, becoming semi-professional at one time.

The funeral for Dave, who died on Thursday of last week, will be held on Friday, July 17, in Beaconsfield, near London. At the time of going to press, we have no further details. He is survived by one daughter.
