OPAP, the major Greek gaming group, has been awarded the exclusive licence to organise horse race betting.
The group, which also has the exclusive licence - either to operate directly or through concessionaires - for the country’s new video lottery terminals, signed the concession agreement with the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund for a 20-year licence.
It won the licence after a bid of more than €40m. Operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of this year once the relevant authorities have granted their approval.
