The Belgian Gaming Commission is seeking to change the country’s regulations to fall more into line with other countries that offer limited payout gambling in the street markets.

Currently Belgium’s industry is dominated by the 150 arcades and by the old-fashioned pinball-style bingo games, of which there are about 8,000 in operation. It is now one of the few markets that still permit this type of game.

The arcades are mainly in three principal groups, Wimi with about 35 locations, GAA with about 40 and the Circus Group with about 30.

The Commission wants to work with the Belgian trade association, the UBA, to create a new category of machines, potentially replacing the bingo tables, but permitting a type of AWP with low stakes and prizes.
