Intercard has installed iWave RFID/NFC readers and automated tellers at Level 257, Namco Entertainment’s new Pac-Man themed dining and entertainment venue located in Shaumburg, Illinois, US.

Level 257 is the second North American site using Intercard's iWave RFID/NFC and automated tellers. RFID and NFC technology enables users to simply wave the venue’s Level Up cards or wristband in close proximity to the terminal or tap the card or wristband on a logo to pay. Intercard’s iWave Reader and iWave Nano are RFID versions of the company’s debit card readers that are used in more than 1,500 locations around the world.

Although the location is new, this is not the first time that Namco Entertainment has worked with Intercard.

“The reasons we keep going back to Intercard are its amazing service levels as well as its ability to work with us,” said David Bishop, Namco’s executive vice president. “Scott Sherrod, Intercard’s CEO, and his team have the commitment to do whatever necessary to make their systems fulfill whatever wacky need we have. They’ve been great at integrating their stuff with other systems - into a different POS system, or somebody else’s management system.”

Intercard’s NFC technology also allows a venue’s guests to use their phones and a branded app to pay for each game play, accumulate redemption points on a virtual card and redeem them for prizes in the redemption store. Intercard plans to implement this capability for all of its RFID/NFC clients in the near future.

“There are other RFID readers on the market, but Intercard is the only company offering magnetic swipe, RFID and NFC technology in a single reader,” said Jason Mitchell, Intercard’s North American sales manager.
