Universal Space is to launch a new redemption machine, Safari Ranger, at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Florida, US, later this month.

Safari Ranger

The game, based on the principal of the mechanised reel used in the company’s Pirate’s Hook title, is “showing incredible promise” of becoming a major success, the company said.

Safari Ranger is available as both a four-player and two-player game, boasting a 42ins LCD monitor.

The mechanised reel with multiple levels of tension – previously applied to Pirate’s Hook – is now a wheel that controls a lasso. In the game, players lasso animals to save them from poachers.

The game features 23 animals and four characters, which change randomly. The player’s score is linked to the size of the animal they save, while small “mercy” animals are given should the player not be successful in reeling an animal in. Rescuing the endangered white lion generates a Safari Bonus.

IAAPA is taking place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, on November 18-21.
