UK bowling operator Tenpin, part of the Essenden group, has agreed a new machines contract with Bandai Namco Amusement Europe.

Essenden, which operates 29 bowling and entertainment centres, predicted that the contract would “drive significant improvements” in sales and margin from the fourth quarter this year.

The company reported a 6.1 per cent increase in like-for-like sales for the 26 weeks to June 29. Despite the distraction of the World Cup, subsequent trading has further improved and like-for-like sales for the 28 weeks to July 13 were up 7.1 per cent.

“The like-for-like of 7.1 per cent is further evidence of strong momentum,” said chief executive Nick Basing. “The foundations are now firmly set. There is more potential for future growth.”
