The only globally-based maker of commercial pinball manufacturers, Stern, is planning to double the size of its factory.
The company, based at Melrose Park, Illinois, close to Chicago, is enjoying a considerable resurgence in the fortunes of pinball, both for the international coin-op market and for the home market.
"Today we use about 55,000sq.ft across multiple facilities and we're really tight on space. We're in the market for 80,000 to 100,000sq.ft," said president Gary Stern. “We want to consolidate everything under one roof.”
The intention, he said, was to locate a suitable factory premises – preferably close to the current facility in order to ensure ready access for the team of experts who design and build pinball games.
