Whispers in the financial world suggest that Britain’s Gala group may be a target for Henry Jackson, the money behind the electricals giant Comet, which he founded. He has approached Gala indicating an interest in buying the business.

Gala, which operates 140 bingo clubs in the UK, is currently up for sale, a project which is being handled by investment bank Lazard and which values Gala at around £250m.

Jackson is founder of the investment company OpCapita. Another likely bidder is said to be former TV Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson, who has also indicated an interest.
