There was an air of optimism around the aisles of this week’s Irish Gaming Show; a change of venue and a possible change in the law adding to the positive outlook of both visitors and exhibitors.

Having relocated to the convention centre at Dublin’s Red Cow Moran Hotel, the show this year certainly suggested that the market is improving.

This year the event was a mix of slot and AWP manufacturers, amusement equipment suppliers, systems technology providers and cash handling solution designers. Some were actively selling into the market, while others were merely there to show their faces or to support local distributors.

It is a fairly relaxed, social event that contrasts greatly with the London shows – and that’s perhaps its greatest strength. Busier than in previous years across the two days, this year’s Irish Gaming Show “exceeded expectations,” as Mike Clokie of E-Service remarked.

There was a definite sense of buoyancy within the crowd and, if there was business to be done, it was being done.
