Banyan Tree Holdings is reportedly to receive approval from the Vietnamese government to open a casino within its Laguna Lang Co resort in Thua Thien-Hue.
According to VietNamNet, executive chairman Ho Kwon Ping has asked the government for permission to open the casino.
However, as the Ministry of Finance is currently drafting the country’s first legal framework for casino gaming, the company may have to wait to receive the go-ahead.
Seven casinos – only open to foreigners – have been licensed in Vietnam since 1992, in addition to 50 electronic gaming facilities.
