Jamaica’s Senate has approved new legislation governing casino gaming, paving the way for casino operating licences to be issued to prospective developers.

The news follows the passing of both the Casino Gaming (Prescribed Games) Regulations and the Casino Gaming (Application for Declaration of Approved Integrated Resort Development) Regulations by the House of Representatives in October.

The new regulations will set out the process for awarding licences permitted under the Casino Gaming Act that was passed in 2010. Under this law, up to three integrated casino resorts can be operated in Jamaica.
