Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment saw revenues double in the first half of the year.

The company, which owns and operates the Galaxy Macau resort, achieved revenue of HK$28.3bn and generated adjusted EBITDA of $4.7bn – a year-on-year increase of 159 per cent. Net profit attributable to shareholders increased to $3.4bn.

Galaxy’s chairman, Lui Che-woo, said he was “delighted” to report a set of strong results for the company.

“The handsome returns achieved over many years are being reinvested wisely in the business to sustain long-term growth and enable GEG to deliver on its vision to become globally recognised as Asia’s leading gaming and entertainment corporation,” he said.

The company now plans to press on with the second phase of its Galaxy Macau property, virtually doubling its size by 2015.
