During May, Chile’s 17 casinos achieved gross gaming income of $49.1m and received 587,785 visitors. This compared favourably with the previous month, when gaming revenue reached a total of $47.7m and the operators recorded visits from 540,762 people.

This increase in visitors and income was attributed to the opening of a new property, Enjoy Chiloé, and a full month of operations of Dreams Coyhaique.

Monticello Grand Casino remains the largest contributor to overall gaming revenues, accounting for 25.8 per cent of the total, followed by Casino Rinconada (13.4 per cent) and Marina del Sol (12.6 per cent).

So far this year, Chile’s casino industry has generated a total of $231m in gaming income and has contributed $38.3m in gaming tax, $36.9m in VAT and $15.8m in entrance taxes.
