The Incheon International Airport Corp, the owner of South Korea’s principal airport, is planning to build a $3bn casino resort to attract tourists from China and elsewhere in Asia.

The new resort, which is being earmarked for land 50km west of the capital city Seoul, is to include casinos, hotels, a convention centre and other entertainment facilities.

South Korea is among the largest gaming markets in the Asia-Pacific region, worth an estimated $2.3bn.

PricewaterhouseCoopers recently predicted that its market will increase by an average of seven per cent annually for the next three years and will overtake Australia in 2013.
