Gala Coral has named Andy Hornby as the new chief executive of Coral, the leisure company's retail betting business.
Taking up the role on Monday, Hornby brings with him a great deal of experience from a variety of industries, having previously served as chief executive of Alliance Boots and HBOS.
"We are delighted to welcome Andy on board as CEO of Coral," said Rob Templeman, chairman of Gala Coral. "His retail track record and wealth of experience will make him a massive asset for Coral as we develop the business going forward."
Despite rumours to the contrary, a spokesman for Coral said there were no plans to break up the gambling group. There has been persistent speculation that the privately-held company is looking to offload its casino division.
