Local councillors are to decide next week which companies will progress to the next stage of bidding to be awarded a casino licence in the UK city of Bath.

The Bath and North East Somerset Council’s gambling and licensing sub-committee is to meet on Tuesday to discuss the merits of the three bids it has received from Apollo Resorts and Leisure, Grosvenor Casinos and Gala Casinos.

A fourth bid has been submitted by Great Eastern Quays but as no representations were made against this application, it wasn’t deemed necessary to have a full hearing before the committee.

Each of the three bids relates to development of sites owned by the council itself. However, the council stated that any proposal would also be subject to the full planning application process, separate from the licensing process.
