James Boje has left IGT to join MEI as vice president, gaming and retail EMEA.

In his new role, Boje will be responsible for developing the gaming and retail markets in this region, while working with his counterpart in the US to continue to grow and improve existing customer relations.

Boje, who started his career in South Africa with Sun International, told InterGaming that it is an exciting time to be part of MEI.

"I was an MEI customer for many years and that allowed me to bring a fresh perspective to the table at MEI with an innate understanding of the unique challenges that face an OEM," he said. "I have always been impressed with the quality of MEI products and its ability to provide great customers service. I knew that my experience as an operator and manufacturer could be immediately leveraged to enhance the already great MEI team. More importantly, I understand how a peripheral supplier fits into the intricacies of the gaming floors across various markets and suppliers."

During his time with IGT, MEI’s Cashflow SC was the "clear choice" for casinos, he said, noting that it earned a higher ship share in IGT products than any other note validator supplier.

"MEI has a great sales team and while I have the responsibility to enhance their gaming knowledge, at the same time I have the opportunity to learn about the retail sector from my team," he commented. "Our key objective is to have the best gaming and retail team out there to service our customers across the EMEA region. We have the best products today in the marketplace. Our goal is to stay ahead of the competition and focus on meeting the needs of our customers by providing efficient service and leverage off MEI’s market leader position."
