The decision to move next year's G2E Las Vegas show earlier in the year will ultimately result in improved sales for exhibitors, it has been claimed.

Frank Fahrenkopf, president of the American Gaming Association, which organises the show in partnership with Reed, said holding the 2011 edition of show in October offers numerous benefits for the industry.

“The revised calendar brings with it many advantages, including allowing exhibitors more breathing room between major international gaming events and helping purchasing decision makers at gaming companies plan for the future with greater ease,” he told InterGaming. “At present, those responsible for purchasing are forced to make decisions before they can assess the new products and services offered at G2E.

“Adjusting the event calendar enables gaming operators to plan for the coming year with greater ease and, ultimately, improve sales for G2E exhibitors.”

G2E will take place on October 4-6 next year, followed by October 2-4 in 2012 and September 24-26 in 2013. The venue will also change from the Las Vegas Convention Center to the Sands Expo and Convention Center.
These changes will also allow for more time between G2E and the January gaming show in Europe, London ICE.

Fahrenkopf added: “It gives our European colleagues, as well as all global exhibitors involved in both shows, more breathing room and planning time between the two largest events in the global gaming show calendar."
