Further table game expansion in the US state of Pennsylvania helped to boost casino revenues in September.

Pennsylvania’s casinos generated gross table game revenues of $36.9m in September, up from $34.6m in August.

Table games were first introduced to the state’s casinos in July, offering the region’s players a much more diverse gaming experience. In total, the state’s 10 casinos operate 694 tables, with Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack operating the most with 99. September also marked a partial month of revenue from SugarHouse Casino, which opened on September 23.

Over $5.8m in tax revenue was collected by the treasury, highlighting the important contribution made by table games in a relatively short period of time.

"This tax revenue is an essential element for meeting the Commonwealth’s general budget needs and makes the board’s successful implementation of table games in just a six-month period critical to the state’s financial health," said Gaming Control Board chairman Greg Fajt. "In the coming months, the board will do all it can to facilitate continued table game revenue growth while also being diligent in our oversight efforts to protect the public."
