A meeting of the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers is due to be held in Las Vegas today, when it is almost certain that the current situation concerning the proposed G2E Europe show will be aired.

AGEM is closely allied with the American Gaming Association, which runs the big G2E show in Las Vegas in November through Reed Exhibitions. It also controls the G2E Asia show held annually in Macau.

The organisation has recently pitched for the rights to run a European show in London in 2012. The bid was aimed at the European-based exhibitors group and was in counter to the bid lodged by Clarion Events, the current owner of the ICE Totally Gaming show held annually at Earls Court in London.

Fears that Earls Court will be redeveloped in the forthcoming years had led to speculation about the show moving or another rival show opening up, which has given the AGA and Reed the opportunity to attempt to take over the European event. However, the London show’s largest exhibitor, Novomatic, last week went on record as pledging its support for Earls Court in 2012.
