The 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off in South Africa on Friday June 11 with the tournament's eagerly anticipated opening fixture between the host nation and Mexico.
Spectators in their thousands will be traveling to South Africa to follow their teams during the four-week festival of football, which promises to bring together the stars of the game from around the world. South Africa’s hotels and casinos are sure to receive a boost from the influx of visitors to the country, with operators keen to capitalise on ‘football fever’.
To coincide with the momentous event, TCS John Huxley has been running a marketing campaign since January in the form of customised layouts and commemorative chips. Working closely alongside the various casinos’ marketing departments, as well as adhering to FIFA’s strict marketing guidelines, the TCS design team created a unique range of bespoke designs for customers.
"With so many overseas visitors expected, it is fantastic to see that the entire continent is gearing up for the big event, in particulalr the casino and hotel complexes," said John Whiskin, managing director of TCS John Huxley Africa. "This time of year usually sees our layout department manufacturing around 350 layouts a month. The overwhelming response to our marketing drive has seen our production increase to well over 700 pieces per month."
