Just under a year since Ukraine moved to ban casinos, rumours have surfaced that the Crimea region could soon host a number of casinos.

Head of the State Committee of Entrepreneurship Mykhaylo Brodskyi told local media that legislation permitting such developments would be tabled soon.

"There will be a casino in Ukraine," he said. "In the coming future it is planned to adopt a law, which will make Crimea a shoulder season resort."

However, concerns over the impact of gaming machines is expected to influence the law’s fine print, meaning any casinos permitted will only contain tables.

"There will be no game-playing machines," Brodskyi said.
