The Trump Taj Mahal, Donald Trump’s failed Atlantic City casino, is to start a liquidation sale today.
The casino opened in 1990. By 1991, it had declared bankruptcy.
In 2009, Trump severed almost all ties with the casino, though he remained a stakeholder in the company to allow the continued use of his name. It officially closed in 2016 under the ownership of Carl Ichan.
In March, Hard Rock International agreed a deal with Ichan to buy the casino for $50m and is now planning to renovate it. The 60-day sale includes everything except slot machines, card tables and anything with Trump’s name on it.
