Japan’s gaming industry legislation is continuing to take shape.

The Experts’ Committee in charge of recommending casino legislation has made a few suggestions, including limiting the gaming floor size to three per cent of an integrated resort’s total area.

Resorts would be limited to just one casino that would be tightly regulated under recommendations from the committee. The regulation of casinos should be handled by a new entity called the Casino Management Board, which would act as an external bureau of the Cabinet Office.

Problem gambling, which has been a major issue, could be curbed by not allowing ATMs or the use of credit cards in casinos. Locals would have to buy casino chips with cash.
