Filipino operator PAGCOR has reiterated its policy on gambling addiction following the attack by a lone gunman in its Resorts World location on June 2.

It was initially feared that the gunman was from an international terrorist group, but it was eventually discovered that he was, in fact, a disgruntled player with a gambling problem. That has led PAGCOR to issue a press statement, under which it emphasises that the company has a strict code to minimise potential harm to players.

“In fact, to heighten awareness on responsible gaming, PAGCOR tapped the mainstream, internet and social media to reach its target public about the hazards of gambling addiction. It has also set up a hotline and partnered with help centres to assist those who wish to be rehabilitated.”
