South Africa’s most technologically advanced casino floor opens this week at Time Square, which will be the country’s second largest casino.

Time Square

Phase one of Sun International’s project in Pretoria, with 2,000 slot machines and 60 tables spanning 7,530sq.m on two levels, opens to the public on Saturday, April 1. The complex, costing R4bn, will be completed in three phases.

November will see the opening of a 8,500-seater arena. The only venue of its kind in Pretoria, the arena will play host to international and local concerts, exhibitions and lifestyle events. A 22-storey, luxury hotel will open in early 2018.

The casino itself is unprecedented in South Africa, with speciality products never seen before in the country, some of which are exclusive to Sun International. The futuristically-designed casino will feature nearly 1,000 digital screens which will be optimised to generate “evolving mind and mood experiences.”

Time Square has non-smoking and smoking sections, a sun lounge featuring higher end machines and tables and the opulent VIP gaming room. Other features include a private, enclosed baccarat pit, four separate private gaming rooms and sophisticated customer engagement technologies to deliver a highly personalised experience to guests.
