ACCORDING to ESPN, the two principal operators of daily fantasy sports, DraftKing and FanDuel, have more than 75 lobbyists working the states to “clarify the legal status of their game.”

That may sound like a lot of lobbyists. But there are more than 50 separate jurisdictions in the US that have the power to legalise, or outlaw, DFS. In addition to the states, all American territories and possessions, from the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, have the power to pass legislation defining what is gambling and whether a gaming activity may be permitted within its borders.
