The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has granted final design approval to the Wynn Boston Harbor casino development.

Go-ahead for Wynn Boston Harbor

Wynn spokesman Gregory John said the unanimous approval from the five-member commission meant that construction could begin.

Chris Gordon, president of Wynn Design and Development in Massachusetts, said the project is on track for its planned opening date of June 3, 2019.

He said the company has secured all major permits, including a waterfront development permit, although additional local approvals will be required as construction progresses.

Located on the site of a former chemical plant site in Everett, the $2.1bn casino development - one of two state-approved casinos under development - is the third largest privately financed construction project in the US.
