Dr Karl Stoss, the director general of Casinos Austria and chairman of Austrian Lotteries, was part of a medal presentation ceremony at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the early hours of this morning.
He was present to hand out the medals at the men’s 4 x 200m freestyle relay, where the most decorated Olympian of all time, swimmer Michael Phelps, was part of the winning four-man US team. Phelps, now at his fifth Olympics, was collecting his second gold medal of the night and his 21st in total. Great Britain and Japan collected the silver and bronze medals at the event.
Dr Stoss has been president of the Austrian Olympic Committee since 2009 and was made a member of the International Olympic Committee on August 4 this year, just prior to the Games opening.
