Novomatic – ICE Totally Gaming's biggest exhibitor by a large margin – started the show this week with its 8.30am day one press conference as usual.

Novomatic - Rio

There was a difference, however, this year with the unveiling of former England and Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand as the company’s latest partner and star of Football Gladiators, the new slot from StakeLogic, a Novomatic Interactive company. There was good news too on the business front, with the company reaching the €4bn turnover point and a figure of over 20,000 employees worldwide.

“The secret of our success has been in implementing our strategy,” said marketing director Max Lindenberg. “We have made more great strides in the technological arena and our operating arm has continued to expand, especially in Spain, where a recent acquisition has seen us add 40 arcades to our portfolio. We are also taking the markets in the UK and Italy very seriously.

“Elsewhere, we have moved our US headquarters from Chicago to Florida and changed our manufacturing brand Austrian Gaming Industries to Novomatic Gaming and our theme going forward continues to be all about offering gaming solutions across the entire spectrum of the industry.

“We are focusing very much on omni-channel and helping operators to achieve their goals.”
