Boyd Gaming has announced an extensive redesign of its downtown California Hotel in Las Vegas.

The remodel will give the resort that caters predominantly to a Hawaiian customer base a new look to its public areas and hotel rooms. The company did not reveal a price for the redesign, calling it a "multi-million-dollar" renovation.

The 40-year-old property was the company's first downtown casino and is part of a reinvestment Boyd Gaming has undertaken to its resorts in Las Vegas and regional markets.

"We are proud to continue reinvesting in the place where our company was born," Boyd Gaming executive chairman Bill Boyd said.
