Stockton University, the college in the US state of New Jersey that bought the shuttered Showboat casino in Atlantic City last year, has received “several proposals of interest” in the property, reports NJ.com.

Stockton bought Showboat for a reported $18m late in 2014 but plans to change it into student accommodation faltered and a deal was lined up to sell the property on to Glenn Straub, the Florida-based developer who also owns the closed Revel casino.

However, Straub didn’t close on the sale and last month a court ruling confirmed Stockton was free to seek buyers for the site.

The university’s acting president, Harvey Kesselman, said in a statement that a special meeting was held on Monday so the board of trustees and “senior leadership could discuss the various terms and offers being proposed and evaluate which would be in the best interest of Stockton.”

“We look forward to bringing this to a conclusion in the near future,” Kesselman’s statement said.
